How to Analyse a Mock Test: The Error-Log Method
Don't just look at the score
A score tells you where you are; the analysis tells you how to improve. Spend at least as long analysing the test as you did attempting it.
Classify every wrong or skipped question
- Concept gap — you did not know the topic
- Memory — you studied it but could not recall
- Silly mistake — misread the question or option
- Lucky guess — right answer, wrong reasoning
Find the pattern
After 3–4 tests, count mistakes per category and per subject. If most are silly mistakes, fix your reading and elimination technique. If most are concept gaps, go back to notes.
Close the loop
Write the correct fact in your error log, re-read the log before the next test, and retest weak topics with sectional tests.
