Civil Services Study Timetable & Goal-Setting Trick
The backward-planning trick
Start with the exam date and count the days left. Multiply by the hours you can honestly study each day — that is your real budget. Then divide it into three phases so you never reach the last month with unfinished syllabus.
A simple three-phase split
- Learn (about half the time): finish the syllabus with notes
- Revise (about a third): two quick revision rounds and PYQs
- Mock (the rest): full-length tests and error analysis
Turn goals into weekly targets
Write targets you can measure: “finish Polity chapters 1–6 and 40 PYQs by Sunday”. Vague goals like “study more” cannot be checked.
Protect your routine
- Fix two or three deep-work blocks per day
- Review the day for 10 minutes before sleeping
- Keep one buffer day each week for pending work
Use the goal planner
The Goal Planner on our home page converts your exam date and daily hours into days and total study hours for each phase.
